this is NOT about food....

I like things pretty clean at my house.  My kids challenge this daily. I think they secretly leave things messy and gross just to see if they can get away with it. I think they laugh to themselves in an evil maniacal screech whenever they know I am about to find something nasty that they have left lying around.  The worst is their bathroom.  It is usually beyond description. Some one please explain to me how they get toothpaste on the walls, cupboards, floor, shower curtain, toilet, mirror, and anything in (or out of) sight.
This is what their toothbrush drawer usually looks like after about1 day of cleaning it.  Clearly lids must be  for losers. I finally couldn't take it anymore. I bought a cheap ($0.98) soap pump and squeezed their toothpaste into it.
See how easy it is t use? This is my 4 year old trying it out. He actually brushed his teeth about 10 times the first day, since toothpaste that looks like soap is pretty darn awesome...(to a 4 year old at least).
It has been almost 2 weeks, and I have not had any globby mounds of toothpaste plaguing me. I actually kinda think I might deserve a prize.

    Do you add water? Thats alot of toothpaste to put in there to make it worth your while...what did you do?

    I think it looks like a good idea but I'm a little curious about the details. How many tubes did it take to make it work? What about the consistency of the toothpaste... did you have to add anything to make it work? Did you have to pump for a long time to get it up and out of the soap container? Was it like sucking a thick milkshake through a straw? Do you feel like your kids are getting excess toothpaste on their brushes because they push the pump down all the way and it squirts out a gob big enough to fill 3 toothbrushes? Did you think it will result in excess wasted toothpaste because you won't be able to get the last bits up the pump or out of the container?

    To answer everyone's questions....I only used 1 tube of Aim. I didn't need to add any water because the consistency is already rather thin. It took a few "pumps" to get it going, and my kids are good about only using 1 pump. It's been a while since we've been doing this now, and there has been a big difference in the "stickiness" in the bathroom.

      They'll realize it's soap REAl fast, no worries about that! And it won't hurt them - they'll just spit it out in a hurry. Actually, soap in the mouth is a long-time treatment for "potty mouth", but my mom used bar soap - cured us kids of back talk, bad words, etc.

    I use soap to brush my teeth anyway :) It's called Tooth Chips from Rose of Sharon Acres. Works far better than any toothpaste I've ever tried.

      I use tooth chips too, from Rose of Sharon Acres! But it's too fussy for my kids. I found some great tooth soap recipes that I will be making and putting into a dispenser like this! Great idea!

    if this works u do need a prize I have a 36 yr old Down Syndrome son and up until about 2 years ago he never squeeze out too much paste now it is all over the sink, in the sink and he and I go through an 8oz tube of paste a week each brushing at least twice a day way too much paste wasted. I will let u know

    I am wondering if I watered it down a bit if it would kind of go down into the bristles a little more. My son HATES the globs of toothpaste and will start brushing and inevitably spits the entire glob out in the sink first spit (pardon the graphic picture).

    I decorated 2 small pump bottles for each of my bathrooms. In addition I add a small amount of blue Listerine mouthwash to the paste as the wash is not only good for breathe, but also teeth and gums.

    Oh you definitely deserve a prize. I am so trying this. I hate the tooth paste mess and supprisingly so do my kids even though they are the ones that make it.
